"Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world"-Bruno Barbey
I find this quote to be very important because it is able to describe the beauty and significance of a photo. It doesn't matter who you are, or where you are from, a photo can be understood by anyone. A photo can capture a moment, show emotions, and tell a story without any words. Many people don't even realize the importance of photos, how they can show you a glimpse of life in another time, or how you can see someone's memories through one. Few things have the power to evoke as many different emotions as a photograph can. To me a photograph is the best way of communication, which is why this quote is important to me. Film photography has been around since the 1850's which may be why some people consider it a thing of the past. This however could not be farther from the truth. Throughout the years film has adapted to stay up to date with consumer demands, for example better cameras, and colored film options.
To this day several companies still sell film cameras and make film. Kodak, Fujifilm, China Lucky Film, etc. all manufacture and sell film currently. Also the hashtag #filmsnotdead has been trending on many social media sites, showing photographers' love and continued use of film. On Instagram there are 111,092 posts with the tag. Many people on other sites such as Twitter, and Tumblr also post film pictures with #filmsnotdead. Film has been an important part of history for over 150 years, and as long as photography is around film will be too.
